He left a will before April 1683 at Hartford, Hartford County, Connecticut; His will reads as follows: That counsell of the prophett, set thy house in order for thou shalt dye & not live is good and wholsome counsell, & in attendance of the same I doe by this my Last Will & Testament setle that temporall estate that God hath in mercy granted me (whilst I am in good understanding of memory) hereby revocking & annulling all former wills & Testaments by me made whither by word or writeing declareing this alone to be my Last Will & Testament. And first I committ my spirit into the hands of God that gave it me & my body to the dust hopeing for a glorious resurection of both thorough the tender mercys & merritts of my deare redeemer.
And it is my will that all my just debts & duty's as I owe in right or conscience to any maner of person or persons whatsoever shall be well & truely contented & payd by my executor hereafter named.
I doe give and confirm to John Bunce my sonn & his heirs forever all that my house & Lott & barn with all the appurtenances belonging to it (which I bought of Thomas Gridley) within the Bounds of the Township of Hartford, & my forty acre lott which I bought of the aforesayd Gridly which Lyeth near weathersfeild Bounds, together with my whole right, title & Interest in the saw Mill that was built by Mr. Stephen Hosmer & my selfe, & doe put him in present posseession thereof.
Moreover I doe give & bequeath unto my sayd sonn John Bunce six acres of Meadow Land lyeing in the South Meadow lyeing on the south side of my Lott Lying by John Wattson's, Thomas Catlin's and Steven Hopkin's Land, as also I give & bequeath to him my Lott Lyeing over against Mr. Webster's, which abutts on the Highway east & on John Wattsons Land on the west & on ? Land on the south & on a highway on the North. These two last parcells of my Land my sayd sonn John Bunce is to possess immediately after the decease of me & my wife Sarah Bunce.
Moreover I doe give unto my sayd John Bunce his heirs & assignes out of my moveable estate Tenn pownds.
I doe give & bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth White Twenty pownds to be payd to her with in twelve months after my deceasse.
I doe give to all my Grandchildren to each of them five pownds apeice to each of them, to be payd to my Grandsons at the age of Twenty one years & to my Grand daughters at the age of eighteen years.
I doe give unto my cousin Elizabeth White as a token of my love five pownds to be payd to her with in twelve months after my deceasse.
I doe also give to my welbeloved sister Katheren Clark as a token of my love the sum of Ten pownds to be payd to her within Twelve months after my deceasse.
I doe give & bequeath unto my dear & welbeloved wife all my moveable estate, both of Cattell & household stuffe, to be to her use & behoofe whilst she shall live & to dispose of at her deceasse to our children as she shall see reason. Moreover I doe give unto her the use and improvement of all my houseing & Land that I stand possessed of at my deceasse, to be for her comfortable subsistance, she keeping houseing & fences in good repayre; allwayes provided, if the providence of God so dispose that she shall change her name, then from after the time of her marriage, she shall have but the use & proffitts of the one halfe of my houseing & Lands afoarsayd.
I doe give & bequeath unto my sonn Thomas Bunce Jr. & his heirs forever, after the deceasse of my welbeloved wife, all my houseing & Lands of what nature & kind soever they be, or wheresoever situated & give nominate & appoynt my sayd sonn Thomas Bunce to be my whole & sole Executor. & to enable him to performe this my will & to pay such Legacies as I have herein given, I do grant him power to sell any part of my Land at weathersfeild for the end aforesayd, not withstanding any clause, or bequest, in this my will to the contrary; & that he may have a refuge to repayre unto for advice & councill in all difficulties that may arise in the attendency of this my will, I doe desire my beloved Brethren Ens. Nath. Standly & Steven Hosmore to be my desired overseers to assist him with councill & advice as there shall be need & for the confirmation of the premises I here unto set my hand.

A nuncupative Codicil appears upon record:

We hoos names are underwriten doe testifie on re----ed unto the last will of Thomas Bunce Senior that the sayd Thomas Bunce coming to our hows which was as to the best of our remembrance sum time in Aprill last: a considerable time after his writing of the sayd will: and there did declare unto us the deponants he had made a will and notwithstanding he was dissatisfied with sum artticles therein mentioned: and therfor sayd that his desire was that they might be altered: which was as foloweth: Namly that whereby in the sayd will he had given unto each of his grandchildren five pounds a peice he sayd now my will and desire is that the sayd grandchildren should have but twenty shilings a piece for good reson that he had since the wrighting of the sayd will, thought or: and whereas he had given in the sayd will unto his coson Elizabeth White five pounds: he att this time declared that his will is that
the sayd Elizabeth White should not have anything: and the reson that he gave was: becaus it would to hevi a burden on his executor to paye so much Legasy, Capn Tho. Bull & Mr. Jonath Bull personally appeared & ? oath to the above written this 2d of August 1683 before Me. John Allyn Assist.
