Frederick Zott Jr.
Friedrich Zott was born on 9 October 1863 at Kaiserslautern, Pfalz, Bayern.3,1,2 He was the son of Friedrich Zott and Sibilla Fischer.2 Friedrich Zott immigrated in May 1880 to New York, New York, aboard the ship, Donau.4 He married Helene Schweizer, daughter of Friedrich Wilhelm Schweizer and Anna Maria Jakober, on 16 May 1891 at New York, New York; Witnesses were Minnie Nickel and Peter Schlicher.5

Frederick Zott was listed as the head of household on the state census of 1895 at Carlstadt, Bergen County, New Jersey. Also living in the house were household members Helene Zott and Frederick Zott.6 Frederick Zott Jr. made an application for a passport on 15 April 1895 at Staats-Zeitung Building, New York, New York. The application reads:
     I, Frederick Zott, a Naturalized and Loyal Citizen of the United States, do hereby apply to the Department of State at Washington for a passport for myself. In support of the above application, I do solemnly swear that I was born at Kaiserslautern (Rheinpfalz) in Germany on or about the 9th day of October 1863; that I emigrated to the United States, sailing on board the Donau, from Bremen on or about the 2nd day of May, 1879, that I resided 15 3/4 years uninterruptedly in the United States from my arrival to the present time at Karlstatt, N.J; that I was naturalized as a citizen of the United States before an Inferior Court of Common Pleas at New Barbadoes on the 9th day of October 1884, as shown by the accompanying Certificate of Naturalization; that I am the Identical Person described in said Certificate; that I am domiciled in the United States, my permanent residence being at Karlstatt in the State of New Jersey where I follow the occupation of Machinist; that I am about to go abroad temporarily; and that I intend to return to the United States within two years with the purpose of residing and performing the duties of citizenship therein. Oath of Allegiance: Further, I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same, and that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion: So Help Me God. The application describes him as 31 1/2 years of age, 5 feet 6 1/2 inches tall with a high forehead, brown eyes, proportionate nose, a moustached mouth, round chin, blonde hair, fair complexion and with an oblong face.7

Zott, his father-in-law, Frederick W. Percy William Osborne Rose was born on 14 January 1852 at Ayr, Ayrshire, Scotland.1,4 He was the son of William George Rose and Maria Ann Williams.2,3 Percy William Osborne Rose was baptized on 1 June 1856 at St. Andrews, Holborn, London, Middlesex, England.5,6

Percy Rose was enumerated in the household of Maria Rose on the census of 1861 at Marylebone, St. Pancras, London, Middlesex, England. No relationship was specified in the census record.7 Percy William Osborne Rose immigrated in 1864 to New York, New York.8

Percy William Osborne Rose was listed on 14 July 1870 as a household member living with William George Rose on the census at Rahway, Union County, New Jersey.9 Percy William Osborne Rose married Annie Robinson, daughter of John Riley Robinson and Jane Wilkinson, on 6 June 1878 at New York, New York; They were married by Rev.
