Thomas and his two brothers were members of the King's household. He traveled often to the southern seacoast and about 1450 he imported fish from Flanders for the King's household. The King also granted him the office of Baliff for life.1 Thomas Stoughton married Christian (?) at England.3 Thomas Stoughton was commissioned "to take fish for the expenses of the King's Household and carriage therefore" in February 1444 at London, England.4 He was the King's Sergeant and also a purveyor of sea fish in August 1445 at London, Middlesex, England.1,4 Between 1452 and 1456 Thomas Stoughton was a landowner at Rye, Sussex, England. He owned a tenement and property there. His deed contains his seal in which there is a mermaid. F
Christian (?) married Thomas Stoughton, son of (?) Stoughton, at England.2 Christian (?) was buried at Church of St. Nicholas Cole Abbey, London, Middlesex, England; The Church of St. Nicholas Cole Abbey was on Old Fish Street, which is now Queen Victoria Street, London. For many years there was a tablet in the church where Christian Stoughton, her husband Thomas and his second wife, Beatrice, were buried. It had a Latin inscription which said "pray for the peace of _____ Stockton, citizen and fishmonger of London and for Christian and Beatrice, his wives." The same arms on the tomb of Governor William Stoughton (son of Israel, the emigrant), were depicted on this tablet, which is an important proof of descent.1
