Thomas Stoughtonwas residing at Barford, Suffolk, England.⁴ He married Katherine (?) circa 1585 at Suffolk, England.² Rev. Thomas Stoughton resided between July 1586 and July 1594 at Naughton, Suffolk, England, serving as a Rector.⁴ Between 1594 and 1600 Rev. Thomas Stoughtonwas residing at Burstead Magna, Essex, England.⁵ Between 12 December 1600 and 1606 Rev. Thomas Stoughton resided at Coggeshall, Essex, England, serving as the parish priest. He was presented by Lord Rich to the parish. He was removed in 1606. It is speculated removal was for non-conformity.⁴ Thomas Stoughton was mentioned in the will of Roger Markant, clothier of Coggeshall. He wrote that he desired "Mr. Thomas Stoughton, vicar and preacher of Coggeshall, to be supervisor to aid my exor, with his advice, and for his pains 40 shillings." The will was dated 15 Sep 1602.⁶ Between 3 September 1616 and 20 August 1622 Rev. Thomas Stoughtonwas residing at St. Bartholomewes, Sandwich, Kent, England; He wrote a treatise from his chamber in the Hospital of St. Bartholomewes on the first date. He said he was born and bred in Sandwich, Kent. He wrote another treatise "from my poor lodging" in the same hospital on the second date. He may have been the Chaplin there, but he was also being cared for, having spent his inheritance for the good of others. He left a message to his children. It is not known when or where he died, but it may have been at St. Bartholomewes soon after August 1622.⁴ He died circa 1622 at England.¹
