The entry is very faded but it appears his household consisted of 1 free white male age 10-15, 4 free white males age 16-25, 1 free white male age 45 and over, 1 free white female under 10 years of age, 1 free white female age 10-15, and 1 free white female age 45 and over.6 He sold land to William Carmichael on 22 August 1801 at Newberry County, South Carolina.3 Patrick Carmichael sold land to Abram Carmichael on 22 August 1801 at Newberry County, South Carolina.3

Patrick Carmichael died between 24 November 1802 and 11 December 1802 at South Carolina.2 He was buried in 1802 at Prosperity Cemetery, Prosperity, Newberry County, South Carolina.2

1861. WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 1861. On page 6 is: The following message was received from the House of Representatives by Mr. Carrington, their Clerk:

Mr. President: I am instructed by the House of Representatives to inform the Senate that they have organized by electing the Hon. Warren Akin, of the county of Cass, as their Speaker and L. Carrington, of the county of Baldwin, as their Clerk, Jesse Oslin, of the county of Cobb, as their Messenger, and B. H. Mitchell, of the county of Coweta, as their Door-Keeper, and that they are now ready to proceed to business. He made $234.4,5 Jesse Oslin married Abigail Cowan Smith, daughter of James Smith and Elizabeth Cowan, on 20 April 1815 at Greene County, Georgia.1,3

Jesse Oslin was listed as the head of a household on the 1820 census Greene County, Georgia. His household consisted of 2 free white males under 10 years of age, 1 free white male age 26-45, and 1 free white female age 16-26.6 He purchased land from James Sellars on 30 April 1826 at Henry County, Georgia.7 He sold land to Abraham Royal on 8 January 1829 at Henry County, Georgia.7 On 2 May 1829 at Henry County, Georgia, he was bonded along with Abigale Credile and Cyrus Boyce. They were bound by a sum of $4,000. Condition of said obligation is such that "Abigale Credile shall do and perform all duties of guardianship of person and property of Ellington Credile, Matilada Credile, Sarah Credile and James Gray Credile, orphans of Moses Credile, deceased".8 He was was appointed along with Waid H. Turner as executor of the estate of Peter Lewis on 2 June 1829 at Henry County, Georgia. He was also one of the witnesses to the will.8 On 2 November 1829 at Henry County, Georgia, he was again bonded by the courts. The record reads: Know all men by these present, we, Abigale Creadille, Jesse Oslin and Cyrus ____ are held and firmly bound by the sum of $3,000 this November 2, 1829. Condition of obligation is such that Abigale Creadille administer the estate of Moses Creadille, deceased. Recorded 23 Jun 1834. John M. Russell, C.C.O.8

In 1830, Jesse Oslin was listed as the head of a household on the 1830 census Henry County, Georgia. His household consisted of 1 free white male under age 5, 1 free white male age 5 to 10, 1 2 free white males age 10 to 15, 1 free white male age 30 to 40, 1 free white female under age 5, free white female age 5 to 10, and 1 free white female age 30 to 40.9

On 17 September 1834 at Henry County, Georgia, during the term of Inferior Court, Jesse Oslin, sitting as a Court of Ordinary, made application for appointment of guardian of Mary Ann Garner, John Garner and Eleanor Garner, orphans of William S. Garner. A bond of $2,500 was made.8 He purchased land from Thomas J. Turner on 13 June 1835 at Henry County, Georgia.7 He sold land to Richard Roseberry on 10 November 1835 at Henry County, Georgia.7 He purchased land from William R. Morrison on 20 August 1838 at Henry County, Georgia.7

Jesse Oslin was listed as the head of a household on the census of 1840 Newton County, Georgia. His household included 1 free white male age 5-10, 1 free white male age 10-15, 2 free white males age 20-30, 1 free white male age 50-60, 2 free white females under 5, 1 free white female age 10-15, 1 white female age 15-20, and 1 white female age 30-40.10 He sold land to James D. Roseberry on 4 April 1840 at Henry County, Georgia.7 He purchased land from John McMillen on 8 May 1840 at Henry County, Georgia.7 He sold land to Alfred Garnett on 3 February 1841 at Henry County, Georgia.7 He purchased land from John Henry Oslin on 24 December 1841 at Henry County, Georgia.7 Jesse Oslin sold land to Alexander Chestnut on 19 March 1842 at Henry County, Georgia.7

Jesse Oslin appeared on the 1850 census at Ringold, Walker County, Georgia, on 2 September 1850.. The census taker apparently misunderstood the name for Elza D. Oslin and wrote Elsey D. and erroneously called him a female.11

Jesse Oslin was listed as the head of a household on the 1860 census at Merritts District, Marietta Post Office, Cobb County, Georgia, on 13 August 1860.. Also living in the household were J. Oslin, female age 7; F. F. Oslin, female age 5; and A. Oslin, female age 2.12 2 January 1866 Jesse Oslin was Sheriff of Cobb County, Georgia. Because of a lawsuit between Peter M. Oliver and George Friendly, as Sheriff he seized the property of Friendly on that date. It was sold to the highest bidder for $100.13

Jesse Oslin was listed on 24 August 1870 as the head of the household on the 1870 census at Cobb County, Georgia. Also living in this household was Abigail Cowan Smith, Julia E. age 22 FW, dressmaker, b. GA; Lonnie age 19 MW, works in capenter shop, b. GA; Ida 17 FW, at school, b. GA; Fanny 15 FW b. GA, Nancy Austin 17 FW, b. GA; and Henry Han(ink blot) 13 MW, works on farm, b. GA.14 Jesse Oslin died on 15 May 1874 at Cobb County, Georgia, at age 80.1,3

Abigail Cowan Smith was born on 18 April 1795 at Georgia.1 She was the daughter of James Smith and Elizabeth Cowan.2 Abigail Cowan Smith married Jesse Oslin, son of John Henry Oslin and Sarah Watters, on 20 April 1815 at Greene County, Georgia.1,3

On 16 December 1841 at Henry County, Georgia, the following was recorded in the courts: "John Oslin gave for love and affection for my daughter-in-law, wife of my son Jesse Oslin of Newton County a negro man by the name of Thomas, about 20 years old yellowish complexion. Recorded 24 December 1841."4

Delia Amazon Oslin was born on 15 October 1841 at Newton County, Georgia.2 She was the daughter of Jesse Oslin and Abigail Cowan Smith.1

In the census of on 2 September 1850, Delia A. Oslin were listed as living with Jesse Oslin at Ringold, Walker County, Georgia. The census taker apparently misunderstood the name for Elza D. Oslin and wrote Elsey D. and erroneously called him a female.3 Delia Amazon Oslin married Captain Frances Wyatt on 10 March 1857.2

On 13 August 1860, D. A. Oslin were listed as household members living with Jesse Oslin and Abigail Cowan Oslin in the 1860 census at Merritts District, Marietta Post Office, Cobb County, Georgia. Also living in the household were J. Oslin, female age 7; F. F. Oslin, female age 5; and A. Oslin, female age 2..4 Delia Amazon Oslin died on 17 October 1911 at Cobb County, Georgia, at age 70.2
